Teaching Experience

I began my teaching career in elementary and middle schools in the Ottawa region and, building on this experience, I have developed and taught many B.Ed. and graduate courses over the past 20 years. After more than a decade teaching in the Faculty of Education at the University of Ottawa, I accepted my current tenure-track position at the University of Manitoba in 2013. In the summer of 2018, while on sabbatical, I was invited to teach a graduate course on assessment in mathematics education at the University of Prince Edward Island.
Over the years, I have taught using face-to-face, blended, and fully online course delivery modes. In addition, as the Director of the School Experiences Office at University of Manitoba from 2015 to 2018, I was the professor of record for the B.Ed. practicum courses that were completed by hundreds of early, middle and senior years teacher candidates each year.
No matter the mode or setting, I strive to ensure that students have opportunities to actively engage with ideas, interact with one another as a community of learners, and make choices about what they learn and how they show that learning.

Some of the B.Ed. courses I have taught include:
  • Understanding Assessment Policy & Practice for Grades K-12 Settings
